The Spring/Summer 2018 shows this year during LA Fashion Week were nothing short of anticipating. The energy was live at the Hotel Alexandria, located not too far from LA's Fashion District. Outfits of the bloggers, stylists, writers and fashionistas in attendance were put together with the, "always camera ready" or, "you never know who you may run in to" motto's in mind.
Friday's show launched with George Styler, who's opening performer was a great way to start off the weekends festivities. But once the models began their strut on the runway, all eyes, as they should have been, were on the gorgeous headpieces and bodysuits that dripped in colorful crystals and chains. There were also some handsome men added to the mix of beautiful models.
After George, we were transitioned into the cocktail lounge style waiting area, that included a decked out makeup station, a swanky VIP area and two bars, to wait for the next designer. Once inside, the front row seats were accessorized with custom "Rinda Salmun" gift bags, that all the girls tried to get their hands on. The bags weren't even the real treat...Rinda's unusual mix of asymmetry, vertical and horizontal stripes, wowed the audience as it was perfectly & effortlessly executed on her garments. To top things off, her beautifully, handcrafted, over-sized flower earrings that are sure to start a trend for SS18.
Saturday was all about Bishme. Some of the stylists to the stars lined up in the waiting area to be seated front row at Bishme's highly anticipated show. Inside the show, you could feel the energy levels rise as the projector on the screen read "Bishme Cromartie."
They say the best things in life glitter and sparkle (maybe not they, just me, and probably Mariah Carey) and that's exactly what Bishme's show did! Incorporating "power suit" pink and a "cute" cream in the array of grey and glitter, the collection was produced very, very well. So much so, that you probably knew his exact vision when making his SS18 collection. The most stunning look of the night was a see through, glitter filled, long-sleeved party dress. From its medium front slit, to the puffed shoulders, to the silver/metallic belted waist, it's no wonder it made the pages of British Vogue & named Bishme as one of the three designers to know from LAFW.
A very big recognition to all the designers who debuted their SS18 collections. Jeffry Tan, Sav Lavin, Radka Salcmannova, Lela Eloshi, Marry-me Jimmy Paul, Nordic Angels, BYO, and Lotuz Jakarta who all had wonderful shows as well. I will be back next year and hopefully the next lineup of designers are ready to live up to the expectations of this year's designers.
